Oil anointment is an ancient spiritual practice to enlightenment. It has been recorded to have been used in the sacred ceremonies and rituals of the Sumerians, the Israelites, Egyptians, Mesopotamians, Indigenous Peoples of the Americas, Celts, etc...

In ancient Egypt, at the Temple of Denderah, the Art of Enlightenment by way of oil anointment was a cherished practice and depicted on the walls. There are various murals of initiates with bottles of oils on top of their heads. Next to these murals there are also initiates seen carrying vials that resemble an elongated lightbulb, which many have stated resemble the cathode producing light rays. These elongated bulbs, or cathodes seem to be charging the tet pillars, which have also been associated with the frontal lobes of the brain. These murals taken as a whole seem to be showing the process of brain illumination by way of oil anointment.

And of course, brain illumination was only the beginning. The initiate would then embark on the Path of the Ruby Ray depicted as a Ruby Orb over the initiate's head sailing into a portal-doorway of stars. Stepping into being the embodiment of a Shining One, an En-Lightened Cosmic Soul.
